Felt, made out of wool from sheeps are naturally water-repellent because of the lanolin (wool wax or grease).
To become very clean wool , the shoren wool comes into a carbonizing proces.
This chemical and heating process will remove all virgin matter (and the lanolin) from the wool.
The wool is clean, but it will absorb now the water much faster.
To become water repellent again the felt has to go into a impregnation bath.

In fact - Wool felt is NOT fire retardant, unless the felt is treated with chemicals.
BUT Wool felt are flame resistant (naturally, smells like burning hair).
Wool felt will burn when exposed to an open flame.
As soon the flame is removed, the felt will extinguish itself, the felt cools down quick and you can touch the surface in seconds.

Ok, First of all Felt is a natural product.
The Felt I'm using is made out of sheep wool - (Designer Felt) or a mix with other natural products i.e. Viscose (Industrial SEA Felt).
During the felting process, the fibers gets interlocked - pressed felt needs only water, heat and movment to interlock.

If you get stain spots i.e. Ketchup, take a little (wool)Soap on a sponge and clen it carefully.
If this doesn't help, wash the piece by hand with...
